Oil Painting Course- (6 places)

This term includes 12 sessions , and the half term holidays will be on 22/10 and 23/10
Classes are for adults, held at Bounds Green, payment is available in instalments and should be paid in advance to secure a place.

Drawing and Painting courses
So what will you learn?
- We will work from observation with a wide range of subjects, mainly within the studio setting.
- You will learn the use of line, tone, colour, mark making and composition, but also understand
the meanings a work can poses.
- We will use variety of techniques (pencils, charcoal, pen, pastels and watercolours) and develop a
fluid and dynamic approach that will promote confidence in your work.
- You will learn through individual tuition, group critique, group discussions, by seeing other
students’ work and by inspirational works of art.
- The courses are a platform to discuss exhibitions, meet people with shared interest, expand your mind and be engaged in a meditative activity, (some students even call it their therapy session...).
Materials Students will provide their own materials. List of materials will be sent to students who enrol the course.
I will provide at no extra cost drawing papers (not watercolour papers) and a nice cup of
tea in the break!

Who is it suitable for?
It is suitable for people who have some experience in drawing, for those new to oil painting and for those with some experience.
What will you learn?
We will be working with still life and will be painting from observation and learn basic handling of the medium and different approaches to colour mixing.
You will draw with paint and learn how to work alla prima (painting produced in one session), and also how to work with layers over few sessions.
We will experiment with painting on different surfaces, and with applying different approaches and processes in oil painting.
During the course we will be looking at examples of various artists relevant to the topic of the lesson, and also discuss current exhibitions.
Course Outcomes
You’ll leave the course with a body of work and you’ll have more awareness of the diverse concepts of oil painting. You will be able to apply things that you have learnt in your own practice or continue to the next term.
